Thoracic imaging

We offer this service at the following locations:

Thoracic imaging specialises in diseases of the organs of the chest cavity, in particular the lungs, the large intrathoracic vessels and the pleura. In addition to conventional (digital) X-ray diagnostics, we also offer high-resolution computer tomography (CT) and, in selected cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Services: X-ray of the lungs

• Clarification of unclear pneumonia or diseases of the upper respiratory tract
• Preoperative diagnostics (e.g. heart size or water retention in heart failure)
• Trauma diagnostics (e.g. rib fractures)

Services: MRI of the lungs

• Thoracic examinations in children: Thoracic deformities, e.g. funnel chest (pre-op)
• Thoracic examinations in children and adolescents: Diseases of the airways (e.g. cystic fibrosis/CF),
• Pulmonary vascular diagnostics
• Diseases of the mediastinum (e.g. tumours, malformations)

Services: CT of the lungs

• Lung examinations as part of tumour diagnostics (tumour staging)
• Round heart diagnostics incl. CAD (computer-assisted programmes)
• Pulmonary vascular diagnostics (in case of suspected malformations or exclusion of pulmonary embolism)
• High-resolution CT of the lungs (HR-CT): For the diagnosis of various lung diseases, e.g. diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
